To convert pixels to a physical size, divide the pixel count by the PPI. For example, a 3000 × 2000 pixel image printed at 300 PPI produces a 10 × 6.67 inch print. Print it at 150 PPI and it becomes 20 × 13.33 inches — larger, but with less detail per inch.
Print width (in) = pixel width ÷ PPI. The same formula applies to height. To convert to centimeters, multiply the result by 2.54.
A common question is how many pixels you need per inch. At 300 PPI, one printed inch needs 300 pixels. A 4 × 6 print therefore needs 1200 × 1800 pixels at minimum for optimal sharpness.
